Dragging Me Down

About

The imagery for this song is about not being able to think clearly because your focus is totally preoccupied and consumed by something other in everything you do. “You’re in the water, the bricks and the mortar, in every corner, too heavy to lift.” The song is about the hold a relationship can have on you, but not necessarily a human relationship, it’s more the importance of what your focus has on determining your happiness in everyday life. It was a pleasure collaborating with Clean Cut Kid on this release, and I hope we’ll do more in the future.

Lyrics

You’re in the water, bricks and the mortar, in every corner too heavy to lift,
Filling my pockets, under the carpet, in every socket, behind the switch,

And all my friends say,
Time will wash our love away,
With every new day,
Getting buried by the weight,

I’m in the shadows, lost in the dark,
Carrying the weight of a heavy heart,
I’m treading water, pinned to the ground,
Losing you been dragging me dragging me down,

You’re in the TV, the ground underneath me, there when I’m sleeping, between the sheets,
You’re in my headphones, in every record, filling my ear drums, on every beat,

And all my friends say,
Time will wash our love away,
With every new day,
Getting buried by the weight,

I’m in the shadows, lost in the dark,
Carrying the weight of a heavy heart,
I’m treading water, pinned to the ground,
Losing you been dragging me dragging me down,

Dragging me, dragging me, dragging me, dragging me,
Dragging me, dragging me down,
Dragging me, dragging me, dragging me, dragging me
dragging me, dragging me down ,

I’m in the shadows, lost in the dark,
Carrying the weight of a heavy heart,
I’m treading water, pinned to the ground,
Losing you been dragging me dragging me down,

I’m in the shadows, lost in the dark,
Carrying the weight of a heavy heart,
I’m treading water, pinned to the ground,
Losing you been dragging me dragging me down,
